This was not a no budget film but it also was not a high budget production. I aimed for smart spending. I prioritized practical effects and authentic props that would enhance realism while staying within a tight budget.
Most of the furniture and set design came from the location itself which helped keep costs low. I selected the house specifically because it already had a grounded natural aesthetic that fit the film's tone. Minimal set dressing was required which saved both time and money. For smaller props I bought a few key items.
In terms of actual budgeting the biggest expenses were transport logistics and meals for cast and crew. Equipment was borrowed or already owned. Lighting gear was basic but effective. Overall I managed to keep things under control by focusing on what the story needed instead of what would look cinematic just for the sake of it.
Everything in frame had a purpose. Nothing was random. That is where most of the budget went, not into abundance but into meaning.
Day 1
Petrol for travel to Old Lahore (back and forth) — 2000 PKR
Uber for both actors to my house before shoot — 1500 PKR
Uber after shoot to their house — 2500 PKR (It was 2 am)
Food for cast and crew (mid-shoot break) — 3000 PKR
Drinks after shoot ended — 500 PKR
Day 2
Travel costs - 0 PKR (Actors arranged their own transport)
Food for cast and crew — 4000 PKR
Props:
Glass bottles — 500 PKR
Ice cream buckets — 1000 PKR
Last minute items like HDMI cable — 500 PKR
Final Budget Total
Day 1 total: 2000 + 1500 + 2500 + 3000 + 500 = 9500 PKR
Day 2 total: 4000 + 500 + 1000 + 500 = 6000 PKR
Grand Total: 15,500 PKR This is technically 0 PKR as I made the money back the following day, but money was still spent.
