the making of the idea.

"Intezaar" an Urdu word with roots in Arabic, transcends the simple act of waiting. It is the pause in life’s rhythm, the stretch of time that makes the ordinary feel endless. It’s the act of being suspended between now and what’s to come. A quiet tension filled with possibility, boredom, or even unexpected joy. In its simplicity, intezaar becomes a moment to notice the small details: the ticking of a clock, the clink of cutlery, the way the world moves while you stay still. It’s the space where nothing happens, yet everything has the potential to. The preliminary task is named Intezaar because the story focuses on a man waiting for his order at a café. As the minutes drag on, boredom gives way to an unexpected burst of creativity, transforming the mundane into something extraordinary. With precise framing and a clever twist, Intezaar captures the beauty of finding joy in the simplest moments.

My thought process behind this task started with aiming for something intricate and mind-bending, trying to create a fast-paced, impressive concept with a unique twist, something so fresh and untapped. But every time I tried, the ideas felt cliché or just too much. It wasn’t until I decided to backtrack and rethink my approach that I realized the power of simplicity. I began to focus on turning something ordinary, like waiting, into something special. That’s when Intezaar came to life. I realized that even in the quietest, most ordinary moments, there’s a hidden potential for something unexpected, something that could surprise not just others, but myself. By focusing on one character, I could play with the contrast between reality and imagination, using visual cues and composition to create a sense of surprise that would captivate the audience. It was all about taking the mundane and finding the magic hidden within it.

With the concept in mind, I moved on to creating a shot list. As we were running short of time, I decided that one particular shot in the opening scene, an establishing wide shot, wasn’t necessary and could be omitted to streamline the narrative. The rest of the shot list followed the original plan, but the opening was trimmed to give it a faster, more dynamic start. This was a small but important change, ensuring that the pacing felt right from the beginning.

The script itself was simple but designed to emphasize the character's boredom and growing imagination. The action was visual, focusing on the character’s movements and expressions more than dialogue.

I took advantage of shooting the entire sequence multiple times from different angles and frames, so it could be repeated and matched during post.

There were some changes that were made to the plot-line on set, but this is the original and main shot list and plot-line.
